8 Week Update

It's now been about a eight weeks since my injury.  There are some scars on my face and arms, but they are really not noticeable.  Just like life!  My eyebrows, lashes and missing clumps of hair are growing back too -- thank goodness those are really important for expression and looking normal!

Arrival Day!

After a few weeks of patience, the care package from IS Clinical has finally arrived!  The suitcase containing the care package couriered by my friend was lost by the airlines in transit, but finally made it to my front door last night.  Everything was intact! (Whew!)

Here's what I received:
2 Pro-heal Serums
2 Hydra-cool Serums
2 Moisturizing Sunscreens
& an ice bag to keep everything cool for transit - how thorough was that!?

Today began my documentation of improvement.

However, before showing you the comparison I need to wait a week.  I'd also like to share with you my history with IS Clinical products.

I love Innovative Skincare, maker of IS Clinical products.  I have loved it ever since 2004 when I worked for a big Medical Spa in the LA area and I first came into contact with Ms. Applebee, a rep for their company (I met a ton of reps back then, but this one was special).  She introduced me to IS products; when I tried the magical products for myself and noticed great results, I petitioned to order more.  I sold hundreds of dollars worth of product in one weekend between my responsibilities of overseeing certain projects and endermologie (a cellulite reduction treatment).  Anyone I checked out I sold something to, I just knew they wouldn’t regret the purchase; they couldn’t say no to my enthusiasm.

I turned my friends on to the products and they loved the serums like crazy too.  My boyfriend (now husband) who was a firefighter was impressed at his results and we talked about expanding this to his whole fire station so everyone could look as sexy as us, but at the time I was a little timid to approach all those handsome macho guys to talk skincare.  Shortly after my husband had a career ending injury, so we began to focus on other needs.

We had a baby and moved to Nicaragua to continue building our lives together. The last few months really took me down between a bad sprain and then the burn!  Currently, I'm getting much better but I can still see the areas that need more help to heal.  I am really excited to share the development with you next week, and am really thankful that the folks at IS came through for me. (Thanks Guys! You're the best!)

Can I just say what kind and truly generous people are at IS Clinical/ Innovative Skincare?  Last night I got a note from two of their managers expressing how happy they are to help me - and didn't even ask for my credit card.

Hi Dana,

I am sending the following products for you to use. Pro-Heal Serum Advance + (a Vitamin C product that is clinically proven to reduce inflammation) Hydra-Cool Serum (an extremely powerful hydrator to layer over Pro-Heal Serum Advance +, and Extreme Protect SPF 30 (our new treatment sunscreen to lock the serums in that is clinically proven to reverse DNA damage.)

I am so looking forward to this!  Even though I am not really enjoying the injury, I am so excited about getting better.  I'll be so stoked to be able to go outside again!

I want to go outside and play with my kids, I miss my yoga and surfing, hiking and running.  I've actually been benched for longer than these five days.  It's been over three weeks because I also sprained my ankle pretty badly and was on crutches prior to this burn. (What's up Universe! Trying to tell me something?)

My motto for this month:  "May I rise like the Phoenix out of these ashes!"

Day 5:  Swollen nose, (lips finally normal size! Yaay!) Singed skin and hair breaking and falling off.

Here's a better shot of the damage although a hard angle to photograph.  I keep banging my arm of stuff, but I am keeping the tissue clean with special soap.

This may be my last entry until the day I get the medicines in.  It's just too yucky to keep this up!  You know when you take 10 photos just to get one you don't look terrible in? Well that's exactly what's goin' on here, some photos are SO BAD I just can't post 'em.  I just can't do it to my Mom, so far away.

In my next entry I will take a before photo and then the afters with the IS Clinical skincare to follow!

I am so thankful to all my friends who have been supportive and others who have been sending love and well wishes.  To Innovative Skincare friends, which I can't appreciate more for "being there" for me, and also to great G-d that my eyes didn't burn off or worse!

Help is On the Way!

I am heaving a huge sigh of relief today and am sooo happy to share the good news!

Help is on the way!  Thank you so much Friends at IS Clinical!

Since getting burned last week in my kitchen I have been anxiously awaiting a reply from folks at Innovative Skincare, the maker of IS Clinical skincare products.  I have been reaching out from my home in Nicaragua, hoping to get a special order expedited.

With the IS Clinical L.A. office open today I was able to reach a very sweet customer service rep who was able to confirm that she would be sending out products (medicine!) to my friend who will be flying to visit our town later this week.

In the meantime, here is my progress.  I now have to watch my burns very carefully to make sure there are no infections.  (See previous blogs to see all the damage done since day 1)

Day 4 Not really feeling like holding a phone to my ear these days...

On my arm I notice little pores in my skin recover first, and my blackened veins are forming blisters, although not as prominent as those on my fingers (which still appear totally melty).

Man, I am so glad to have the care package on the way from the U.S.!  I really want to thank my friends at IS Clinical again, and again.  Your kindness is going to make all the difference in my recovery; your products are superior to anything else out there.  You are truly the BEST skincare company ever!  Accolades, my friends!

Help Me IS Clnical!

Innovative Skincare is my favorite skincare and research pharmaceutical company EVER.  I created this blog to reach out for help since I live in Nicaragua and ordering things quickly can be tricky in this country, and I need help ASAP.

So what the heck happened to me, you ask?
Simple, I lit the oven broiler at the wrong time three days ago and experienced The Inferno for real.

Here are my photos from today...

Some of the 2nd degree burns are scabbing. Part of my chin peeled away. My lips are all scabbed up!

It's painful as these break... I am so lucky it isn't worse!

My knuckles still have that melted look. It's going to take a long time.
I am hoping the discoloration won't be permanent. 

Hello Friends at IS Clinical! Please let me know if you can help me.  I have a friend in San Francisco coming down to visit next week. If you send him some products he can bring them down for me, otherwise I can't get anything on time.

Help Me Is Clinical!

So today is day two of almost burning my face, arms and eyes off.

Notice the 2nd degree burns, blistering, swelling and singed hair...Looks so scary!

And burnt blackish veins...something I've never imagined... Really, really scorched.

So, I have had this small IS Clinical sample in my first aide kit for EIGHT years.  A blue, moisture mask gel, which is pure necessity for this crazy occurrence.  I used it the night of the injury since I live 2 hours from a burn center/first-world hospital (that doesn't pick up the phone late at night).  I meditated away the pain to my best ability and used the moisture mask and the next day the redness was gone. However, it came back later the second day and especially areas that have 2nd degree burns and need more help.

The bad news is that I just ran out! 

IS Clinical, can you help me? 

I've been browsing your FB pages and see some amazing developments and new products which is really exciting.  I am a die hard fan of your company as of 2004 but do not have products here in Nicaragua.

Please help me!
